Description

Girls Gift! The picture of elegance! Brocade silk scarves are generally worn by Indian women on formal occasions. It has some extra shine coming from the metallic thread used in the fabric. The metallic thread provides some stiffness to the fabric and so many women also use these scarves as table runners. Indian brocade rectangular silk scarf is often long and narrow, usually worn on or near the head, for warmth, fashion, cleanliness, or religious purposes. Over time, this custom has evolved into a fashionable item in many cultures, particularly among women. Scarves in India have a significant place and traditional value. Women's outfit in India is considered incomplete without a long scarf. These are integral parts of the salwar kurta, lehenga, and churidar. With cultural exposure from Europe, these scarves found their way to the western wardrobes too.

5Brocade Silk Scarves from Banaras  Apr 11, 2009
The gorgeous brocades in these Banaras silk scarves with their enamel like decorations can be seen in a number of paintings from Shahjahan's period known for their minute details. The main patterns in these scarves are similar to those seen in Mughal paintings, like floral arabesque, geometrical trellis designs, and the ogival, surrounded by decorative borders.

The problem was one of delivery. The order was three weeks late having been sent all over the US. They even failed to get from LA to Pasadena! I enlisted my son living in the US who finally achieved the delivery!
